SexTips[at]byo24[dot]com brings you all the latest tips and advice on sex, love and relationships, giving you 12 Freakiest sex tips that can really save your relationship.

Sex in the wardrobe

Why head for the cramped space of the wardrobe or cupboard under the stairs when there's a perfectly good bed available? Because it forces you to try new positions and angles. "Doing it anywhere that's more restrictive than a bed – a car, a tent, a bathroom – makes you think up innovative ways to get to orgasm," says Kerner. "And the more techniques you try, the better you'll get to know your body – which means easier orgasms." NB Don't try this unless you've got a built-in wardrobe. Furniture tends to move during sex and if it falls down while you're both in it, doors-down, you could be stuck for a very long time!

Kissing upside down
You may ask yourself why on earth you'd bother contorting yourselves in order to kiss when you've been doing it the right way up for years without any problems. The answer is: novelty. "We spend a lot of time kissing our partners, especially at the beginning of a relationship, but as time goes on, we tend to kiss less and move more quickly on to the next stage – sex," says sex therapist Dr Ian Kerner (www.goodinbed.com). "By making kissing seem new and 'approaching' your partner from a different angle, you might find it even more stimulating than usual."

Hairbrushing your bodies
Another household object that doubles as a surprisingly good sex toy. A hairbrush can be used to get his and your nerve endings standing to attention before you launch into actually touching each other, skin on skin. "Get naked, and very gently brush his body," says Green. "Start with his arms, shoulders, chest, then work your way up from his feet, legs. Then finally work on his abdomen and thighs, finishing on his testicles. This gets every square inch of his skin excited, so that when you throw the hairbrush across the room and explore his body with your fingers, tongue and lips, he'll explode with pleasure." But not before he does the same for you!

Suck toes
For some this is just plain icky; for others, it's heaven. The only way you'll know what it can do for you is to try it and you may well be surprised. "Feet may not look like the sexiest parts of our bodies – unless you've got a foot fetish – but certain areas are supersensitive to touch," says Kerner. "Think about how much you enjoy a foot massage – that's because nerve endings there respond well to touch. During or after a bath with your man, when you're both super clean, try licking between the toes, and sucking. You may find it extremely pleasurable."

Doing it to a beat
Creating a sex playlist on your ipod is a great idea if you sometimes struggle to get in the mood for sex. "Humans can be trained to respond physically to certain triggers, just like other animals such as dogs," says Fulbright. "If you regularly put on the same music before and during sex, and keep doing it over several months, it should help you relax and feel aroused in the future." There's also something to be said for providing yourselves with a rhythm to follow: "If you enjoy slow sex, choosing music with a deep stable rhythm will encourage him to match it," says Fulbright. "Music has been shown to make for a better workout at the gym, so why not sex too? It can add another dimension to sex, making it feel more intimate, more erotic, or even just downright dirty." NB Remember to give your sex playlist a code name. You never know when some well-meaning family member might borrow your MP3 player and find it!

Synchronised breathing
Breathing is inextricably linked to sexual arousal and orgasm – there's a reason you associate heavy breathing with being turned on! As your body prepares for sex – blood pumping to your genitals, your nerve endings on red alert – you need more oxygen... so you need to breathe more deeply. "Synchronsising your breathing rhythm with your man's is good for two reasons," says sexologist Dr Yvonne K Fulbright, author of The Better Sex Guide to Extraordinary Lovemaking (Quiver, 2009). "Firstly, it helps you focus on your own breathing. You're more likely to take deep breaths, filling your lungs completely. That helps sensations spread, rather than staying localised. Secondly, you're both more likely to be 'on the same sexual page' so to speak – at similar stages of arousal, based on your breathing rate. If one partner is ahead of the other, for example, it can help slow the response." While you shouldn't expect dramatic effects immediately, many couples find they're able to orgasm simultaneously when they try this method.

No touching
It sounds counterintuitive but bear with us here – you do get to touch each other, eventually! "One of the reasons sex can become routine or, dare I say it, a little dull, is because it's always available – we humans like things to be just a little out of reach," says Fulbright. "To get yourselves really excited before sex, get naked and explore each other's bodies with just your eyes and your breath. Inhale his natural scent, gently blow on his nipples, his penis and so on. His nerve endings will respond dramatically to such a light 'touch' – as will yours when he does it to you. By the time you allow yourselves to physically touch, you'll be ready for orgasm."

Let him take a nose dive
There's an old wive's tale about the size of a man's nose and his penis, but we reckon there is some truth to the idea that a man with a reasonably large nose might be great in bed. Why? Because it's the perfect clitoral stimulator! "It might sound odd but when you think about it a nose is ideal – it's firm but not too hard and it will stimulate the entire clitoral area as well as the surrounding tissue," says Siski Green, author of How to Blow His Mind in Bed (Piatkus, 2010). "Men tend to use just their finger tip or just the tip of their tongue for cunnilingus, but by diving in there with their nose they're actually going to stimulate more sexy nerve endings."

Removing hair
It doesn't sound sexy when it's described as hair removal but shaving each other can be incredibly erotic. "There's a level of trust involved that goes over and above the usual," says Green. "It also takes a great deal of care and attention – possibly more than you're used to getting down there!" Once you're both shaved, your genitals will be supersensitive, which can make for great sex. Be warned, though: the growing back phase will be itchy and uncomfortable, especially during sex.

The wheelbarrow
There are plenty of near-impossible sex positions but the wheelbarrow is one that's worth trying. "It's a good position for when your man is a bit quick off the mark when it comes to climax," says Green. "With all the effort he's putting into holding you up, he's not likely to come too quickly." Of course, you're also putting a lot of effort in, so what about your orgasm? "I like to recommend a twist on the wheelbarrow, which is where the woman rests her arm and chest on the bed," says Green. "That way, she can relax a little and enjoy the stimulation on her nipples as her man thrusts to and fro, while holding her bottom/thighs in the air."

Upside down sex
You've never tried it?! That's probably because the only people who have a hope of success with it have some kind of sex swing contraption in their home. But that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the advantages yourself. "Having sex while standing on your head is obviously going to be extremely strenuous for the majority of the population," says Green. "That said, it can be fun to try partial upside down sex. By which I mean something like: your man sits on the bed, you straddle him. With him support you around your lower back, he gently lowers you so your head is hanging down towards his feet. Blood rushes to your head, making you feel lightheaded which can intensify the experience, and he gets a fabulous view of your breasts."

Surgical gloves
Sometimes the most unsexy-looking objects turn out to be the best sex tools. In this case, a pair of surgical gloves (available at chemists) and some lube creates an unbelievably good hand job. Fill the glove with lubricating lotion and slip it over his penis shaft. "This provides a sensation that's incredibly similar to a vagina, only by using your hand you can apply rhythmic pressure that you may not be able to using your vaginal muscles," says Green. Using a glove also keeps any mess tidily inside. Bonus!
